Nayati

As you all probably know, Nayati Shamelin Moodliar, was kidnapped last Thursday at 7:30am in Mont Kiara. Well, today. He has been found. The joy spread through my body at the speed of not even light. Faster. I just dropped the resistance band I was holding (I was in PE, you see) and screamed. Mona was playing Boyfriend by Justin Bieber and she just lost control of her fingers and had to press the pause button about 5 times. The atmosphere was amazing. People were hugging each other - students and students, teachers and teachers, students and teachers. Literally everyone had a smile on their face, everyone was united by smiles.

He came to school. We greeted him in the theater. Well, we didn't really greet him. All 450 of us MS and HS students were anxiously sitting at the edge of the seat waiting to find out more information and to see whether Nayati was here. He was. The standing ovation literally happened about 3 times and lasted for about 5 minutes each, no kidding. Tears were streaming down my face, I was shouting and wooping and clapping so much. I'm over the moon.

This is a message the the head of our school Mr. Morris sent out to parents and faculty of our school.

Dear Parents of Mont'Kiara International School:
It with a great sense of relief and joy that I am able to inform the parent community of the safe return of Nayati Moodliar to the loving arms of his family and friends.  Nayati has shown himself to be a strong and resilient young man throughout this entire ordeal.  Those character traits are a credit to Nayati and to the life lessons taught by his mother and father.  Nayati has displayed strength of character and resilience far beyond his age--that should make us all pause and reflect.  No doubt these played a huge roll in his being able to successfully handle the dreadful situation into which he was so unwillingly thrust.
Today, at 2:45pm, Nayati was welcomed back to our school community at an assembly of students from 6th-12th Grade. Many parents, teachers and support staff were in attendance.  Nayati spoke briefly to his classmates, all of whom gave him a standing ovation (actually it was several standing ovations!!). The energy in the school was palpable.  Everyone is rejoicing at having one of our own back in our midst.
The power of prayer and positive thought, so widely apparent in the M'KIS Community, played no small part in the successful return of Nayati.  The countless hours put in by his friends distributing thousands of posters in Malaysia and worldwide is something of which we can all be proud.  Facebook and other social media postings were very positive activities as well.  There is much strength in collective action, and nowhere was that fact better demonstrated than during the events of the past few days.
I am so incredibly proud to be a part of the M'KIS community.   It is humbling indeed to be in the position as Head of School of this superb place of learning.
At M'KIS we are, indeed, an extended family.  Virtually all of us at M'KIS are from somewhere else, and we are therefore without the support of family and friends upon whom we would normally rely in crisis situations.  For that reason, it is critical that we band together and form our own strong bonds as family.  We have learned the necessity to support one another since one never knows when that support will be required.
M'KIS Parents, Students, Faculty and Support Staff--you came together when it counted.  Nayati needed you; the Moodliar family needed you.  You did not disappoint!!
Thank you so very much for everything that you meant to the Moodliar family during this critical time.
Thankfully, I shall no longer need to provide these daily updates.  I hope they have been helpful and that the parent community feels that it has been kept sufficiently informed.
Once again, thank you and with warmest personal regards,
I remain,
Yours truly,
Walter .C. Morris
Head of School

Welcome home Nayati, we've really missed you. I don't know you much, you could say I don't know you at all. Hah, we play touch together and you literally are the cutest thing ever and I really wish that you didn't have to go through that. Welcome home. The MKIS community has been worrying and fretting everyday about your disappearance. I haven't been this happy for someone's return. When I saw you on stage healthy, safe, smiling and unharmed, there wasn't anything that felt better at that moment. Welcome home Nayati, you're back to where you belong.
