So today, or shall I say yesterday? Monday, June 13th. I went out to Pappa Rich for lunch. Not a special place but it serves authentic Malaysian food so I liked it. A LOT. The Pappa Rich I went to was at Solaris Dutamas. Very near mi casa.
There was no appetizers or whatever, I just dove in. I munched on some classic Malaysian 'Roti Bakar' or toasted bread that was served with 'kaya' or coconut jam and butter. You may now know this but 'kaya' and butter is a VERY GOOD MIX. There's this taste of sweet, sour and salty. NICE. Doesn't sound good but tastes unbelievable good. I love it.
In Pappa Rich, they serve thick bread. Very yummy.
I ordered the traditional Penang 'Hor Fun' soup with shredded chicken and prawns. It isn't spicy. HEHE. It's basically a very nice soup, chicken I think, with some thin flat rice noodles with shredded chicken, spring onion and prawns. Very yummy. Good for a rainy day and when you're sick. Totally warms you down. Love it, love it, love it. Here, the presentation isn't bothered.

First up, curry mee. HEHE, it's this traditional never-gets-old dish from Malaysia. Every state has its own way of serving and cooking it. But I think this is the classic one. The soup is basically coconut 'santan' which is coconut milk with curry leaves and curry powder and essences. Very yummy. And it is served with a choice of MeeHoon, which is thin, white rice noodles, Mee, which is yellow noodles (sort of like Malaysian ramen or soba) or you can mix them both. And there are also many other elements to this dish. First, fried tofu. Not the best thing but it really goes with this dish. Second, shredded chicken. Third, various Chinese or Malay vegetables. Lastly, fried shallots. Chinese people use fried shallots. ALOT.
Sorry bout the bad photography. But the hand was moving. LOL, and there was smoke. But as you can see. it looks yummy. To me, at least.
And lastly, there was the traditional Hainan Chicken Rice. It's basically fragrant ginger infused (I think) rice served with either steamed or roasted chicken. The best part of the chicken to eat this with is the thigh or back. YUMS. It is also served with a side of stir fried 'tauge', which is bean sprout with chili and also a small bowl of chicken soup. Well, it is basically chicken soup but it tastes different. Way yummier. This dish is mostly ALWAYS served with a sweet, thick soy sauce and a light, thin chili sauce. These sauces really compliment the initial taste that the rice, chicken and bean sprouts present your tongue with.

So basically, that was it for lunch. THEN I WENT FOR DINNER.
I went for dinner with my mom and 6 of her friends. We went to Hakka Restaurant in the heart of KL. They served classic Hakka food and common Chinese food. They also serve STEAMBOAT!
So my mom ordered hella a lot of food.
First came the fried egg with chicken, spring onions, shark fin, and onions. Yes, I know. SHARK FIN! But I'm Chinese. Deal with it. SOZ LOL THAT WAS MEAN. Well, this dish was VERY nice. And in restaurants like this, presentation isn't the main aspect. Taste and presence is.
Then came the sliced pork braised in soy sauce served with 'man tau', which is basically very soft, plain pau. Yum. You put the pork on top of the man tau AND MUNCH ON IT. Or eat it however you like. One of my mom's friends made it into a sandwich. Pree smart I must say.

After this, the crab arrived. This time, my mom decided to have the crab cooked with dried chili flakes, curry leaves, curry powder, and basically all the seasoning and essences! Very good. I love crab. HEHE. Just feasted on it like a pig. And now feast your eyes on this picture! Though it was taken with very bad photography skills.
Great dish.
After this, the steamboat came! I didn't take any photos, though. Very sorry about that but I was too busy munching away like a frickin' hippo. Hell yes. This concludes my post on my meals of June 13th!
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the post! LOL CHEEZZZZZY.
